FavMaps map with places from your circle

Is it for you?

Before you book, do you ask a friend?

Then this app is for you — to stop winging it and start eating where someone you trust has already eaten well.

👥

Your people's places, in your pocket

The people whose taste you trust already save their favorites here. Follow them and keep their notebook open whenever you need it.

🗺️

Land in a new city and you already know

Their pins show up next to yours on the same map. That friend who travels a lot, that foodie sister, that cousin who lives there — all at once.

🎯

No reviews from strangers

No anonymous star ratings, no paid rankings. Only the taste of the people who've been steering you right for years.

A map that's actually yours

Three things it does well

FavMaps isn't a review app full of strangers. It's your notebook of places, crossed with the notebooks of the people whose taste you trust.

📍

Save

Add places in two taps. Rating, price, photo and notes — everything optional except the name. No long forms.

🔍

Remember

Months later you search "steak" and there's that place you loved and had forgotten. Search inside your own notes.

Discover

Follow curators, city ambassadors and friends. See their places on the map next to yours, without the noise of anonymous opinions.

How it works

The app in 6 moments

Map

Your network, geolocated

The map shows every place in your network — yours and those of the people you follow. Coral pins for your favorites, teal for friends'. Toggle between "Mine" and "Friends" with one tap.

Feed

New notes from your circle

Every time someone you follow adds a place or writes a note, it lands in your Feed. No algorithm — pure chronological order. Your own updates show up too.

Search

"Steak" takes you to that place

Search with context: by name, category, address or inside the text of your network's notes. Results sorted by proximity to your location.

Discover

Follow curators and ambassadors

Original curators who seeded FavMaps with thousands of places, city ambassadors curating Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and more, plus food influencers. The most active ones are sorted by number of places shared.

The full list of places you've added, with your notes and ratings. Sortable by recent, top rated or alphabetical. Search inside your own notes.

From zero to a map

4 steps, 2 minutes

01

Find or add a place

Search on the map or type the name. If it's not there, add it yourself with your phone's location — or use "Discover nearby" to see what's around.

02

Write your note

Optional rating, optional price, optional photo. The only thing that matters: write it in your own words. "The rice is to die for" says more than five stars.

03

Follow the people who know

When someone you follow adds a place, it shows up on your map with a different pin. Filter by person, category or distance.

04

Take it with you

New city, weekend, getaway. Open FavMaps and see your places and the ones from your trusted circle — no sponsored spots in your face.

Straight up

What we don't do

Many map apps live off selling what you do. FavMaps doesn't. Here's the honest list.

What we DON'T do

  • We don't show ads
  • No trackers or pixels
  • No Facebook, Google Analytics or similar code running in the app
  • We don't sell your data
  • We don't share your location with anyone
  • We don't use your location in the background

What we DO

  • We store your notes and places on European servers (GDPR)
  • Only you decide whether they're public or private
  • You can delete your account from Settings, no support call needed
  • Sign in with Apple ID or email — no Facebook
  • You pay for it with a "thanks" — the app is free, no premium tier for now

Community

You start with thousands of places

FavMaps launches with a base curated by chefs, travelers and foodies who've been recommending their favorites for years. Follow the "original curators" from Discover and their places show up on your map from second one.

Questions

What people usually ask

Is it really free?

Yes. No premium, no trial, no ads. If we ever add anything paid it'll be an optional extra. The map, notes and social features are always free.

Is there an Android version?

Today it's iOS 17+ only. Android is on the list but no date — it depends on the community growing.

Can I import my places from Google Maps?

Not yet. It's on the roadmap. Meanwhile you can add by hand or via "Discover nearby" (which uses Apple Maps).

What happens if a place has closed?

Every place page has a "Has this closed?" link. Marking it removes it from the map. Plus every 3 months an automatic check runs to keep the database alive.

I had a FavMaps account before, can I recover it?

Yes. Your email, password and notes are still there. Log in with your old credentials. If you signed up with Facebook, tap "Forgot password" and you'll get a reset link by email.

Where does my data live?

On European servers (within the European Economic Area). GDPR-compliant.

How do I delete my account?

Me → Settings → Delete my account. Instant and permanent. You can also email us at [email protected].
